Malia is about 35 km east of the centre and 32 km from the airport, around 30 minutes on the VOAK towards Agios Nikolaos. The main road splits it in two: the old village to the south, and the resort of hotels and bars to the north, down to the beach. The Beach Road (Dimokratias street), the bar street, is usually closed to traffic at night in summer, so if your hotel is on it, agree the handover time with the supplier and meet at the nearest street the car can reach.

The supplier brings the car to your hotel or sends you directions to their office, and confirms which after booking. From Malia, the Minoan palace is 2-3 km away, Agios Nikolaos 29 km (about 30 minutes) and Tzermiado on the Lasithi plateau 21 km (about 30 minutes).
