Ferries from Athens arrive at Souda, Chania's port, about 7 km east of the town: 10-15 minutes by car. The direct line from Piraeus sails overnight, run by ANEK Lines and also sold by Blue Star Ferries. Most overnight sailings arrive between about 05:30 and 07:00, depending on the ship and the season, and other ferries can arrive at any time of day, so tell the supplier your ship and arrival time when you book.

The supplier meets you off the ferry, sends you directions to their office, or sends a shuttle to take you there, and confirms which after booking. If the supplier meets you, you can drive off with no wait for the hourly town bus. If you're returning the car before the evening ferry back to Piraeus, agree the time and place with the supplier.
