How you pick up your car

Corfu airport, run by Fraport Greece, is on the southern edge of Corfu Town: under 3 km by road from the Spianada, about 10 minutes. The supplier meets you on arrival, sends you directions to their office, or sends a shuttle to take you there, and confirms which after booking. Add your flight number when you book so the supplier can follow any delay.

The airport has one car park, right outside the terminal and open around the clock. It is free for the first 20 minutes and charged by the hour after that. If the supplier meets you at the terminal, agree beforehand which of you pays the parking. Because the airport is practically in town, it is also the simplest pick-up if you're staying in Corfu Town.

Distances from the airport

  • Corfu Town (Old Fortress)4 km, 10-15 min
  • Corfu port4 km, 5-10 min

Practical tips

  • Winter hours: from 6 November 2026 to 27 March 2027 the terminal is open only from 06:00 to 22:30, so agree the return time and place with the supplier for a very early or late flight.
  • The car park: the first 20 minutes are free, then 5 euros up to an hour. If a hand-over runs longer, agree beforehand who pays.
  • Fuel before you return: there is a Shell on the Corfu-Lefkimmi road about 1 km north of the terminal, and Avin and BP stations about 1 km west, at Alepou.

Driving rules in Greece

  • Speed limits: in towns the limit has been 30 km/h since 1 January 2026, and 50 km/h on roads with two or more lanes in each direction, on one-way roads with two or more lanes and on roads with a central divider. Outside towns it is 90 km/h, 110 km/h on expressways and 130 km/h on motorways. Signs can set other limits.
  • Alcohol: the limit is 0.5 g/l. It is 0.2 g/l for new drivers, and for motorcycle and moped riders.
  • Phones: hands-free only. Since the new traffic code of 2025, a first offence costs €350 and a 30-day licence suspension.
  • Helmets: compulsory on mopeds, motorcycles and quads, for the rider and the passenger.
  • In the car: a warning triangle, a first-aid kit and a fire extinguisher are compulsory. Check they're in the boot at pick-up.
  • Emergencies: call 112.

Places to visit by car

Distances from Corfu.

  • Paleokastritsa

    Paleokastritsa

25 km, 35-40 minutes. Coves on the west coast and a monastery on the headland. Parking is limited in high season and the beaches are busiest from about 11:00 to 16:00. The monastery has very few spaces: park below and walk up.
  • Angelokastro

    Angelokastro

30 km, 40-50 minutes, via Lakones and Krini. The Byzantine castle stands on a clifftop about 300 m up, 15 minutes' walk from the ticket office. It's open 1 April to 31 October, 10:00-18:00, closed on Tuesdays; a ticket is €10 at the time of writing. Parking is mostly on the verge.
  • Sidari and the Canal d'Amour
